EL LIBRO DE LANS * THE BOOK OF LANS

Mi amor por la lectura y los libros me ha llevado a querer desentrañar la forma en que se hacían y por eso ahora soy encuadernadora. Esta pasión también me lleva a admirar la tipografía, los espacios en blanco, en resumen a querer saber cómo se concibe un libro desde que el autor lo termina de escribir hasta que llega a las librerías. El pasado verano tuve la oportunidad de asistir a un curso de maquetación con el programa InDesign y ahora es como si me hubieran quitado una venda de los ojos; no puedo evitar mirar desde una nueva perspectiva cualquier palabra impresa que veo, este curso me ha dejado con ganas de profundizar más y más en este maravilloso mundo de la edición.

Ahora he tenido el honor de que un amigo escritor me confiara su libro para darle forma, editarlo y encuadernarlo siguiendo sólo unas pocas directrices sobre la encuadernación que él deseaba para esta historia épica. El resultado os lo enseño aquí, pero no puedo mostrar en imágenes cuánto he aprendido y disfrutado dando forma a un montón de palabras encerradas en un documento de Word. Mi sed de conocimiento sobre edición y maquetación de libros no hace más que crecer.

My love for reading and books has led me to want to unravel the way in which they were made and that is why I am now a bookbinder. This passion also leads me to admire the typography, the blank spaces, in short, of wanting to know how it is conceived a book from when the author finishes writing it until it reaches the bookstores. Last summer I had the opportunity to attend a course in desktop publishing with Adobe InDesign and now it is as if I had removed a bandage from my eyes; I can't avoid looking from a new perspective any printed word that I see, that course has left me a desire to deepen more and more in this wonderful world of publishing.

Now I have had the honor of a friend writer entrusted me his book to shape it, edit it and bind it just following a few guidelines on the binding that he wished for this epic story. The result I taught here, but I can't show images of all that I have learned and enjoyed giving way to a lot of words that were enclosed in a Word document. My thirst for knowledge about editing and layout of books does nothing but grow and grow.
